FARBTUNNEL // Graphic Designer & Graphic Artist

Fineliner drawings, ink and watercolor paintings, graffiti stencils

Farbtunnel – that’s me: Tobias Sylvester Vierneisel – Graphic artist, media designer and inventor of the Dotting artwork technique.

I don’t commit to one single style, but always experiment with tools, colours and graphic techniques. As a graphic artist, I visualise objects and people, trying to create a mixture of extremes and harmony.

Dotting Painting Technique

I developed Dotting as an illustration technique in 2015. What started as an idea, based on initial work and studies, has now become a perfection-oriented process.

What is special about Dotting is the artistic tool that is used. Medical syringes are used for precise and controlled application of the watercolor paint, resulting in ornament-like image compositions with minimal color transitions.

Inspiration as a creative process

My sources of inspiration are many and varied. Sometimes it’s structures on the street, on walls or in nature, sometimes it’s films, sometimes photographs or experimenting with materials. When everything is in flow, new drawings and illustrations are created.

Painters who are not in galleries are still painters.

Stencil Art

I love the smell of graffiti paint in the morning. But that doesn’t mean that I spray on walls outside; I prefer spraying on paper or canvas and creating an artwork in the studio. Headphones on, mask on and music on. Cutting out areas for hours and placing the stencil onto paper at the end to see the final result.

Iam not the best drawer but I can express emotions in a line.

Jeff Monson (Bone Crusher)

At some point, I came across a photo of Jeff Monson and a story about him as the „Bone Crusher“. Inspired by the story and the photo, the scrap page (I think it was the Stern) ended up in my collection of templates. Among animal photos, structures, images of people and other objects, it lay there waiting for a first visual realization.
